Davido’s Sister Reveals How She Manages His Finances and Luxury Spending

Sharon Ademefun, the elder sister of Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about her role in managing her brother’s finances and efforts to control his spending on luxury items.

Ademefun, who serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Davido Music Worldwide, said she holds regular financial meetings with the singer as part of efforts to maintain proper financial discipline within his business and personal spending.

She disclosed this during an appearance on The Morayo Show, hosted by television presenter Morayo Afolabi-Brown. The interview was published on YouTube on Tuesday.

According to Ademefun, she and Davido hold weekly finance meetings to review how his money is being spent and discuss areas where unnecessary expenses can be reduced.

She said she often reminds the singer to slow down his purchases of expensive cars and jewellery, although her advice does not always stop him from acquiring new luxury items.

Ademefun explained that she could warn her brother against buying another vehicle, only to discover shortly afterwards through social media reports that he had purchased a new car.

She said a similar situation occurs with jewellery, noting that despite her attempts to control his spending, Davido sometimes goes ahead with expensive purchases.

Ademefun also revealed that her involvement in Davido’s business affairs dates back to the early stages of his career.

She explained that her current position developed naturally from her previous involvement with the singer’s management team.

According to her, their close family relationship has sometimes resulted in disagreements because she is willing to challenge Davido and tell him the truth when necessary.

She said their decision to pursue separate professional paths eventually allowed her to develop her own business experience before returning to help bring greater structure to her brother’s business operations.

Ademefun also addressed questions about whether she has detailed knowledge of Davido’s wealth. She declined to disclose specific information, saying she had signed a non-disclosure agreement.

“I’ve signed a non-disclosure agreement! I can’t confirm or deny!” she said.

The businesswoman further explained that Davido has a functional management team responsible for handling his daily logistics, although she sometimes becomes involved when she believes attempts to reduce costs could negatively affect the singer’s comfort or travelling arrangements.

She gave an example involving airline bookings, saying that if the management team books Davido on an airline without a suitable first-class service, he may insist on being upgraded or purchasing a different ticket.

Ademefun said she has personally purchased tickets at the airport on several occasions when she believed cost-cutting measures had compromised the arrangements made for her brother.

Beyond her responsibilities within Davido’s business empire, Ademefun also discussed her own entrepreneurial interests, including her clothing company, Body Politics.

She explained that she started the clothing business after becoming frustrated with the limited options available to women with different body shapes and sizes.

According to her, Body Politics caters to a broad range of customers, offering clothing sizes from XXS to 5XL.

Ademefun said she was deliberately taking a cautious approach to expanding the clothing business, explaining that she would rather improve its existing operations before pursuing rapid expansion.

She said customers should expect to see more of the brand through additional pop-up events and increased availability.

Her comments provide an insight into the family and business relationship between the singer and his elder sister, who combines her financial expertise with her long-standing involvement in his career and business affairs.
