‘Enough Is Enough’, ‘We Need Justice’ — Taraba Nursing Students Protest Alleged Sexual Assault of Colleague

Hundreds of students of the Taraba State College of Nursing Sciences, Jalingo, have staged a peaceful protest following an overnight attack on one of the institution’s female hostels located outside the school premises.

The attackers, suspected to be hoodlums, allegedly invaded the hostel, dispossessed students of their phones and other valuables and sexually assaulted a female student.

Reports circulating online alleged that the victim, said to be 19 years old, was assaulted by multiple suspects during the incident.

She was also reportedly injured, with one of her fingers allegedly severed by the attackers.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 21, 2026, when the suspects invaded the hostel.

In footage circulating online, the protesting students were seen barricading the entrance of the institution while displaying placards with inscriptions including “Enough Is Enough,” “We Need Justice” and “Tackle Insecurity.”

Some of the students were seen overcome with emotions, with some crying as they questioned the security situation around their hostels and the safety of students.

“Our parents are paying huge sums of money. At the end of the day, we are still suffering. What is the essence of paying these fees if we cannot be protected?” one of the students was heard saying.

The students called on the relevant authorities to urgently intervene, investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
