‘Yahoo Is Stealing’ — Ibiyeomie Rejects Fraudsters’ Offerings in Church

The presiding pastor of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has strongly condemned internet fraud, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo,” describing it as outright theft and warning fraudsters against bringing money obtained through cybercrime into the church as offerings.

Ibiyeomie issued the warning during a recent sermon, expressing concern that some internet fraudsters are members of the church and continue to participate in religious activities despite making money through illicit means.

The pastor questioned how anyone could engage in cybercrime,
take money from unsuspecting victims and still feel comfortable worshipping in church.

According to him, no matter how fraudsters attempt to justify or disguise their activities, taking money that belongs to another person remains theft.

He said, “Yahoo is stealing. You are only giving it another name, but it is still stealing.
Is it your money? Whatever you take that belongs to someone else is stealing.”

Ibiyeomie also advised Christians to be cautious about maintaining close relationships with people involved in internet fraud, stressing that the consequences of cybercrime can be devastating for victims.

Highlighting the human cost of fraudulent activities, the cleric narrated the case of an electrical engineer and university professor who reportedly worked as a consultant for one of the ministry’s electronic projects.

He said the professor allegedly lost his entire savings to fraudsters and suffered a fatal medical emergency after discovering that his money had been taken.

“I know of a professor at Rivers State University. He was one of our consultants at the site, an electronic engineer. They yahooed him of all that he had in his account.

He physically held his burglar-proof and collapsed. He died.
They took all the money he had saved,” Ibiyeomie said.

The pastor further warned members of Salvation Ministries who engage in internet fraud or benefit from proceeds of cybercrime not to bring such money to the church.

He said, “And if you are in this church and you are doing Yahoo, you will go to another church and do your offering. I don’t care how much you have because you are killing people.

Many people have died because of Yahoo.”
Ibiyeomie also rejected the argument that economic hardship or the need to survive could justify internet fraud.

He maintained that stealing another person’s lifetime savings remains morally wrong, regardless of the circumstances.

The cleric urged Christians to pursue legitimate means of earning a living and avoid activities that cause financial and emotional harm to innocent people.
