Nigerian Beauty Queen Karibi-George Wins Miss World Africa Top Model Title, Advances to Top 40

Miss World Nigeria 2026, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, has won the Top Model for Africa title at the ongoing Miss World competition in Vietnam, earning an automatic place in the Top 40 quarterfinals.

The 26-year-old Nigerian emerged victorious on Thursday after competing against representatives from Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa during the Top Model contest held as part of the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII, themed “Soul of Heritage.”

Her achievement places Nigeria among the four continental winners who have secured automatic spots in the Top 40 of the 2026 Miss World competition.

The other winners are the Dominican Republic for the Americas and Caribbean, France for Europe, and Vietnam for Asia and Oceania.

The Miss World Organisation announced the results on its social media platforms, congratulating the four continental winners and confirming their qualification for the next stage of the competition.

However, the competition for the overall Top Model crown is still ongoing.

One of the four continental winners will eventually be selected as the overall Top Model winner and will receive a direct qualification to the Top 20.

The Top 40 will consist of contestants selected from four continental regions: Africa, the Americas and Caribbean, Asia and Oceania, and Europe.

Additional contestants will qualify for the Top 40 through other Miss World challenge categories, including People’s Choice, Beauty With a Purpose, Head-to-Head and Multimedia.

Karibi-George’s latest success follows her participation in the Head-to-Head Challenge, where she advanced to the African finalist stage.

She was, however, beaten by South Africa’s Romanda Hombir, who won the continental round and secured another automatic place in the Top 40.

Karibi-George, who hails from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 on June 6 after emerging as the winner among 20 finalists at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.

She represented Bayelsa State at the national pageant and succeeded Joy Mojisola Raimi, Nigeria’s representative at the previous Miss World competition, where Raimi advanced to the Top 20.

A trained communications professional, Karibi-George is an associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and the founder of Beyond Labels, an initiative dedicated to promoting inclusion, dignity and empowerment for children with special needs.

Before winning the Miss World Nigeria crown, she also emerged as the winner of Miss Africa International 2024 in Accra, Ghana.

With her Top Model victory, Karibi-George has strengthened Nigeria’s hopes of making a strong showing at the 2026 Miss World pageant.
