‘I Said What I Said’ — VeryDarkMan Stands by Police Kidnapping Claims

Social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has insisted that he will present evidence supporting his allegations against some police officers when the matter gets to court.

VeryDarkMan made this known while reacting to the invitation extended to him by the Nigeria Police Force over his comments at the 66th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

At the conference, the activist alleged that some police officers stationed at checkpoints on major highways share information about travellers with kidnappers and bandits.

Following the allegation, the police invited VeryDarkMan to provide evidence to substantiate his claims.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said the invitation was intended to allow the activist to support his allegations with evidence.

However, VeryDarkMan, in a post on his official Facebook page, maintained his position and declined to withdraw the allegations.

“On the Nigerian police, I SAID WHAT I SAID, you will get your evidence when I am charged to court,” he wrote.

He also alleged that some police officers were responsible for crimes blamed on “unknown gunmen”.

“I repeat, THE POLICE ARE THE UNKNOWN gunmen and they aid kidnappings,” he alleged.

The activist said he was prepared to submit the evidence before a court if he was charged, rather than release it at the invitation stage.

“I’m going to give the police my evidence. I will be charged to court and I will tender the evidence in the court,” he said.

The allegations have not been accompanied by publicly released evidence, as VeryDarkMan maintains that he will present the materials in court.
