The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to reopen its electronic membership registration exercise nationwide from August 31, 2026, as the ruling party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, which will be conducted across APC wards throughout the country, is expected to provide an opportunity for existing members to validate and update their membership records, while new and prospective members will be able to formally join the party.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, urged party members, supporters, stakeholders and intending members to participate fully in the exercise.
Morka explained that the electronic registration programme was designed to create a more reliable and up-to-date membership database for the party.
He said the initiative would help digitise the APC’s membership register, improve the integrity and accuracy of membership records, and make membership information more accessible for effective planning and administrative decisions.
According to him, the exercise is also expected to strengthen internal democracy within the party and demonstrate the APC’s commitment to using technology to improve political participation and party administration in Nigeria.
The reopening of the registration exercise comes as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties expected to strengthen their structures and expand their membership bases across the country.
The APC said all existing members are expected to validate their details during the exercise, while Nigerians who wish to join the party are encouraged to register through the designated electronic registration process.
The party further stated that prospective registrants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
The APC called on its members and supporters nationwide to take advantage of the exercise by ensuring that their information is properly captured and updated, stressing that an accurate membership register would be important to the party’s organisation, planning and management ahead of future political activities.
