President Bola Tinubu has announced the leadership structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election, appointing former Zamfara State Governor and Senator, Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General.

Under the new structure, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as Secretary, while President Tinubu will chair the campaign council. Vice President Kashim Shettima has been appointed Vice-Chairman I, while APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice-Chairman II.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Other members of the campaign leadership include APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, who will serve as Deputy Secretary, and Hadiza Bala-Usman, appointed Assistant Secretary.

The council will also include a team of senior advisers made up of prominent APC figures, including former National Chairman Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Segun Osoba, former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, former National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni have been appointed Deputy Directors-General responsible for the southern and northern campaign operations.

Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will serve as Deputy Director-General in charge of administration.

James Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s previous presidential campaign, has also returned to the campaign structure as Deputy Director-General for election planning, coordination and monitoring.

The media and strategic communications directorate will be coordinated by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu. Segun Dada has also been retained as Director of New Media.

The campaign council named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. He will work alongside Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.

President Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work together to secure victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election.

He also directed heads of the various directorates to involve other party members who were not included in the initial list.

Tinubu said the administration had made significant progress in laying the foundation for economic recovery and urged the campaign team to effectively communicate its achievements to Nigerians.

“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet. Let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation,” the President said.

He further urged the campaign team to work towards defeating political forces seeking to return Nigeria to what he described as the “dark tunnel,” as the APC begins preparations for the 2027 presidential contest.
