Bernardo Silva: Playing for Real Madrid Is Not for Everyone

New Real Madrid midfielder Bernardo Silva has said joining the Spanish giants is a privilege that not every player gets to experience, describing his move to the 15-time European champions as a proud moment in his career.

The 31-year-old Portugal international joined Real Madrid from Manchester City this summer after his contract with the Premier League club expired.

He was officially unveiled by the Spanish club on Wednesday.

Speaking after his presentation, Silva reflected on his previous visits to the Santiago Bernabéu and the impact of seeing Real Madrid’s record 15 Champions League trophies displayed at the stadium.

According to the midfielder, representing a club with such an extraordinary European history comes with huge expectations, but he is determined to give his best for the team.

Silva said he was proud to become part of Real Madrid’s history and promised to give everything to the club as he begins his new chapter in Spain.

The former Manchester City star arrives with extensive experience at the highest level of European football and is expected to play an important role in Real Madrid’s midfield during the new season.

His move to Madrid comes shortly after his former Manchester City teammate Rodri completed a transfer to Barcelona, creating another major midfield change involving two of the Premier League champions’ former players.

Real Madrid coach José Mourinho had earlier revealed that he held discussions with Rodri about a possible move to the Bernabéu but said the midfielder ultimately chose another path.

Silva will now turn his attention to establishing himself at Real Madrid as the club targets further domestic and European success.
