Osun Election: Tension as APC, Accord Supporters Clash in Ile-Ife

A brief confrontation occurred on Saturday at the polling unit of Osun State Deputy Governor and Accord Party deputy governorship candidate, Prince Kola Adewusi, in Ile-Ife.

The incident began after APC deputy governorship candidate Benjamin Kayode Adereti arrived at the polling location, where several Accord supporters were present.

Adereti had earlier voted at his designated polling unit in Ilaare Ward 3 before proceeding to Adewusi’s polling centre.

His arrival reportedly led to an exchange of words between supporters of both political parties, creating tension and briefly disrupting the voting process.

The situation was later brought under control, allowing activities at the polling unit to continue peacefully.

The reason for Adereti’s visit to Adewusi’s polling unit was not immediately known.

The incident occurred as voters across Osun State participated in the governorship election, with security personnel deployed to maintain order at polling centres.

Both the APC and Accord Party are among the parties contesting the election, while Ile-Ife remains a politically significant area in the state’s governorship contest.
