Arsenal, Manchester City Renew Rivalry in 2026 Community Shield

Arsenal and Manchester City will face each other on Sunday, August 16, in the 2026 FA Community Shield as they battle for the first major domestic trophy of the new English football season.

However, winning the trophy does not necessarily guarantee success in the league campaign.

Since the Premier League began in 1992, only a small number of clubs have won both the Community Shield and the league title in the same season.

Manchester United have achieved the feat four times, while Chelsea and Manchester City have also completed the double.

Interestingly, the losing side in the Community Shield has gone on to win the Premier League more often than the winner since 1992, according to Premier League statistics.

With both clubs preparing for another demanding domestic and European campaign, Sunday’s clash will provide an early opportunity for Arsenal and City to assess their strength ahead of the new season.
