Barcelona are preparing a third offer for Manchester City midfielder Rodri as the Spanish club intensifies efforts to bring the Spain international back to La Liga.
The Catalan giants have already had bids of €50 million and €60 million rejected by Manchester City.
Despite the setbacks, Barcelona remain confident that an agreement can be reached and are continuing direct negotiations with the Premier League champions.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Barcelona are expected to return with another proposal, with discussions likely to centre on a figure between their previous €60 million offer and Manchester City’s reported €80 million valuation.
The two clubs are expected to continue talks in the coming days as Barcelona look for a compromise that would satisfy both sides.
The Spanish club are reportedly unwilling to abandon the deal despite City’s firm position on Rodri’s value.
Rodri’s potential return to Spain would be a significant move for Barcelona, who see the experienced midfielder as an important addition to their squad.
His technical ability, tactical intelligence and experience at the highest level could strengthen the team’s midfield options.
Manchester City, meanwhile, will have to decide whether to maintain their €80 million asking price or negotiate a lower fee to facilitate the transfer.
The outcome of the ongoing discussions could determine whether Barcelona finally succeed with their pursuit of the midfielder.
