Arsenal Complete Signing of Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle

Arsenal have officially completed the signing of Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United on a long-term contract.

The 28-year-old arrives at the Emirates Stadium after four-and-a-half seasons at Newcastle, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s standout midfielders.

Guimarães made almost 200 appearances for Newcastle and played a key role in the club’s 2025 Carabao Cup victory.

He also helped the Magpies secure UEFA Champions League qualification on two occasions.

His transfer to Arsenal ends weeks of speculation over his future and gives manager Mikel Arteta another high-quality option in midfield.

Guimarães began his professional career with Brazilian club Audax in 2015 before joining Athletico Paranaense.

He later moved to Lyon in France in 2020 before signing for Newcastle in January 2022.

The versatile midfielder can operate as a defensive midfielder or in a box-to-box role, offering Arsenal greater tactical flexibility.

At international level, Guimarães has made 48 appearances for Brazil.

He has represented the country at the FIFA World Cup and Copa América and was part of Brazil’s gold-medal-winning squad at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta said the signing would strengthen the club’s midfield while increasing competition within the squad.

“Bruno can play as a defensive midfielder and as a box-to-box player.

He combines quality with physical strength and has consistently contributed goals and assists,” Berta said.

Guimarães will wear the No. 39 shirt at Arsenal and will link up with his new teammates immediately, subject to the completion of the required regulatory procedures.
