Afrobeats star Davido has recalled one of his earliest negative experiences with fame, revealing that a viral private photo left him overwhelmed and taught him a lasting lesson about celebrity life.

Speaking in an interview on VIBE Magazine’s YouTube channel, Davido said the incident happened shortly after his breakthrough songs became major hits and earned him a performance booking in Ghana.

According to the singer, the situation took a dramatic turn after he spent the night with a woman he met during the trip.

The next morning, his manager informed him that the woman had taken a photo of him while he was asleep and shared it online to prove she had been with him.

He said the image quickly circulated on social media, prompting calls from members of his family, including his father and sisters.

The unexpected exposure left him deeply shaken and made him realise how vulnerable public figures can be.

Reflecting on the experience, Davido said he was young and still adjusting to life in the spotlight.

He added that the incident taught him the importance of being cautious, noting that fame often comes with intense public scrutiny and loss of privacy.
