Adeleke Confident of Victory Ahead of Osun Governorship Election

Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed confidence that voters will protect their democratic rights and reject intimidation ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

In a post on his official X account, Adeleke said the people of Osun have a history of resisting oppression and would not allow external interference to undermine their collective will.

According to him, independent opinion polls indicate strong support for the Accord Party, which he attributed to the achievements of his administration in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare and pension reforms.

Adeleke said his government remains committed to building on its achievements if re-elected, adding that the state’s best days are still ahead.

He urged residents to remain united, vigilant and participate actively in the election.

His remarks come amid heightened political tension following the arrest of the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaiye, and five others by the Osun State Police Command over alleged electoral offences.

Police said the suspects were arrested during a raid in Osogbo and that cash, voter cards and other materials linked to alleged vote-buying were recovered.

The command maintained that the operation was based on credible intelligence and that investigations were ongoing.

However, the Osun State Government and the Adeleke Campaign Organisation rejected the allegations, describing the arrests as politically motivated and aimed at intimidating opposition figures ahead of the election.

The police have denied the claims and insisted the operation was carried out lawfully.
