UNILAG Rolls Out Safety Measures to Protect Female Students

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has introduced safety guidelines for female students as part of efforts to tackle sexual harassment and sexual violence on campus.
The advisory, issued by the Student Affairs Division, was displayed across the university and contains recommendations aimed at helping students stay safe and avoid situations that could expose them to abuse.

Students were encouraged to be cautious in their interactions, avoid secluded areas, and be vigilant when accepting drinks or favours from others.

According to the university, the initiative forms part of its counselling and awareness programmes designed to educate students on personal safety and reduce the risk of sexual violence.

The advisory comes amid concerns over sexual assault cases that have surfaced within the institution in recent years.

University authorities say the campaign is intended to strengthen awareness, promote responsible behaviour, and improve student safety across the campus.
