NDLEA Busts Drug Warehouse, Arrests Husband and Wife in Edo

The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a couple for allegedly operating a drug warehouse in Benin City and recovered more than 412 kilograms of illegal drugs during a raid.

The Edo State Commander of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the operation followed intelligence reports that led officers to a warehouse located in a residential area along Sapele Road.

According to Ofoyeju, the suspects, Christian Chukwuka, 32, and his wife, Nwanneka Christian, 33, were arrested at the facility. During the raid, operatives recovered 22 bags of skunk weighing 219.5 kilograms and 192.67 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis.

He described the seizure as one of the largest made by the command in recent times and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and combating the spread of illicit drugs.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of the inquiry, Ofoyeju said.
