Adeleke Orders Probe Into Cult Killing In Osogbo

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has directed security agencies to investigate the recent cult-related killing in Osogbo and ensure that those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.

The governor also distanced his administration from the incident, insisting that neither he nor the state government had any involvement in the violence.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke expressed concern over the killing and warned that the violence must not be allowed to further threaten the state’s security.

He condemned the killing and the subsequent rampage, describing the incident as condemnable and urging security operatives to act swiftly.

“We receive with concern the recent suspected cult killing at Osogbo, and we call on security agencies to enforce the law and go after the culprits. The killing and the subsequent rampage are condemnable,” the governor said.

Adeleke added that the incidents of cult violence in Osogbo must be curtailed immediately to prevent worsening the already fragile security situation following recent political violence in the state.

“The incidents of cult violence at Osogbo should be curtailed immediately so as not to complicate the delicate security situation after recent political violence in the state. I call on security agencies to investigate and apprehend those involved in this dastardly act,” he added.

The statement further said the Accord Party was still mourning several of its members allegedly killed by political thugs in recent weeks.

It also urged members of the public to disregard what it described as fake news and propaganda linking the state government to the incident.

“We call on members of the public to ignore fake news and propaganda. The security agencies should investigate and bring those responsible to account,” the statement added.
