Fresh Violence in Kwara as Armed Attackers Kill One, Kidnap Another

Suspected terrorists attacked Wande community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Wednesday night, killing one person, abducting another and injuring several residents.

According to local sources, the attackers stormed the community and opened fire on residents before fleeing with a kidnapped victim.

One resident was reportedly killed, while several others sustained injuries during the assault.

A victim of the attack said he suffered a head injury after being struck with the butt of a gun by the assailants.

Injured residents were taken to a hospital in Igbaja for treatment.
Residents expressed concern over the worsening security situation in Kwara South, noting that repeated attacks by armed groups have forced many people to abandon their communities.

Security sources said the attackers are believed to be members of a terrorist group that had earlier clashed with security operatives in Yaru town.

After being pushed back by security forces, the group reportedly fled toward Wande, where the attack later occurred.

The incident has renewed concerns about rising insecurity in parts of Kwara State despite ongoing security operations.
