A highly anticipated Jay-Z concert at Yankee Stadium was delayed for over four hours on Sunday night after hundreds of ticketless fans tried to storm the venue.

The concert—the finale of a three-night run and the 56-year-old rapper’s first major solo show since 2017—was scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM.

However, a sudden security breach forced officials to lock down the stadium.

“Hundreds of individuals in large groups who did not have tickets to tonight’s performance stormed over peaceful ticket holders, and in some cases, breached security,” a Live Nation representative stated.

To restore order, all entrance gates were closed for an extended period, leaving hundreds of legitimate ticket holders stranded outside.

Officials eventually reopened the gates “cautiously and carefully,” letting fans in using small groups.

Jay-Z finally took the stage at around 12:15 AM, briefly explaining the situation and thanking the crowd of over 40,000 people before starting his performance.
No injuries or arrests have been confirmed.
