Bala said a document circulating online, which purportedly showed his resignation on May 17, 2025, was forged.

Nafiu Bala, factional national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has dismissed claims that he resigned as deputy national chairman.

Speaking in a video published by Rariya Hausa, Bala said a document circulating online, which purportedly showed his resignation on May 17, 2025, was forged.

“My name is Hon. Nafiu Bala, the ADC acting national chairman,” he said.

“I want to clarify that the document claiming I resigned as national vice chairman did not come from me, and the signature on it is not mine.”

Bala explained that he became acting national chairman following the resignation of the party’s former leadership.

“If you recall, on July 2, we attended an event where new members expressed interest in joining ADC,” he said.

“On that day, former ADC chairman Ralph Nwosu announced that he, his secretary, and other leaders were stepping down. He also stated that I, along with others, would continue managing party affairs until the national convention.”

He added that he resumed office in line with the party constitution.

“Because of that, I am resuming office today as ADC national chairman. According to our constitution, the deputy takes over when there is no leader,” Bala said.

He also stressed that any resignation letter from him would be issued on official letterhead.

“When I was deputy national chairman, any resignation letter would be written on my official letterhead. Any document without it is not from me,” he said.
