United States Congressman, Rep. Riley Moore, has revealed why he and Rep. Chris Smith introduced the Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act of 2026.
Speaking to NewsMax, Moore said the legislation seeks to tackle the escalating persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
Koikimedia reports that the Bill also allows for possible sanctions against Fulani militias and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Moore said, “I introduced the Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act of 2026 with Rep. Chris Smith to confront the brutal persecution of Christians in Nigeria. The key focus of this Bill is to target some of the bad actors, particularly the Fulani, an Islamic group that has been terrorising Christians across the country.
“The Bill will also empower President Donald Trump’s administration to sanction these individuals and report back to Congress. The President has been very committed to protecting Christian communities in Nigeria, who are facing persecution on a scale rarely seen in Africa.”
