President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the State House in Abuja over the recent deadly attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area.
At least 160 residents were reportedly killed in the assault, which authorities linked to suspected jihadist fighters, raising serious security concerns in the North-Central region.
Presidential sources said the meeting was part of emergency consultations on the situation in Kwara and the Federal Government’s immediate security and humanitarian response.
On Wednesday, Tinubu ordered the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama and approved the creation of a new military command to coordinate Operation Savannah Shield, aimed at dislodging armed groups and protecting vulnerable communities.
The President condemned the attack as “cowardly and inhumane” and directed federal and state agencies to work together to support affected residents, strengthen intelligence, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The Northern States Governors’ Forum also condemned the wave of attacks in Kwara, Katsina, and Benue, describing them as barbaric and senseless.
