Human rights activist and public commentator, Mahdi Shehu, has warned that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) risks following the same path that led to the collapse of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), arguing that power rooted in arrogance and injustice is unsustainable.

Shehu made the statement on Tuesday morning via his official X handle, drawing a comparison between the PDP’s 16-year tenure and what he described as APC’s growing disregard for Nigerians.

“Whatever goes up must surely come down. Just as PDP rose and fell after its years of pride and betrayal, APC is now walking the same path,” he said.

He recalled former PDP National Chairman Vincent Ogbulafor’s 2008 claim that the party would rule Nigeria for 60 years, noting that the PDP eventually collapsed under its own excesses. “God showed them who truly owns power. The same will happen to APC if they don’t change,” Shehu added.

He accused the APC of undermining institutions, intimidating citizens, and taking the country for granted, warning that such arrogance inevitably ends in disgrace. Quoting Psalm 37:10, he said: “A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.”
