The Abia State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the alleged theft of 18 children.

In a statement, Maureen Chinaka, the police spokesperson, said the suspects were apprehended after operatives raided multiple locations based on credible intelligence.

Chinaka explained that on September 24, the Ohuru Isimiri police division received a report that a man had lured a woman and her two children from Ebonyi State to Abia State under the pretext of marriage. Upon arrival in Aba, the man reportedly took the children while the woman was away, leaving her unable to locate them despite repeated efforts.

“Acting on actionable intelligence, officers on October 8 stormed a residence suspected of holding stolen children, arresting five suspects and rescuing eight children,” Chinaka said.

She added that on Thursday, another raid along Aba/Owerri Road led to the arrest of four more suspects and the recovery of ten additional children.

The suspects have been identified as Best Ndubusi, Charles Enyinnaya, Eunice Ezekiel, Nnena Kalu, Gideon Esther, Obiegbunam Von, Ezeoma Rejoice, Ngozi Owoh, Favour Ernest, and Brittney Oyemuwa Zion.

Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, urged residents to remain vigilant, supervise their children, and report any suspicious activities or persons to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency hotlines.
