The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said it is considering two options for selecting its presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi are among those who have declared interest in the race.
Speaking on Channels TV on Monday, ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi said the party is weighing the possibility of adopting either a consensus arrangement or conducting a primary election.
“We are preoccupied with developing our party, building structures, and putting up necessary systems to show Nigerians that we are indeed a democratic party.
“Along the line, we are going to act on who becomes the party’s flagbearer and we are going to do so in a very transparent and democratic way.
“We have two options. One is to engineer a consensus, and if that is not achieved, we will go into primaries that will be transparent, and whoever emerges, the party supports,” he said.
