Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has suspended 85 government officials for failing to attend an important official function.

Those affected include 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries.

The governor’s spokesperson, Monday Uzor, announced the suspension in a statement on Monday night, saying the officials would proceed on a one-month working suspension without salary.

According to the statement, the suspension takes immediate effect, and the affected officials are barred from signing any official documents during the period.

It added that the commissioners must hand over to their respective permanent secretaries.

Uzor stressed that Governor Nwifuru remains committed to ensuring government officials uphold the highest standards of conduct and dedication in serving the people of Ebonyi State.
