Suspected bandits have attacked Bege Baptist Church in the Yaribori community, Kafur Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State, leaving two people dead and abducting a woman in a fresh wave of violence plaguing Nigeria’s northwestern region.
The victims have been identified as Reverend Emmanuel Na’allah, the church pastor, and Mallam Samaila Gidan Taro, a member of the congregation.
The attack reportedly occurred on Monday night when gunmen stormed the church premises, opened fire on worshippers, and kidnapped a yet-to-be-identified female victim.
A security analyst known as Bakatsine confirmed the incident in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
“Yesterday night, bandits attacked Bege Baptist Church in the Yaribori community, Kafur LGA, Katsina State. They killed the church pastor, Rev. Emmanuel Na’allah and a member, Mallam Samaila Gidan Taro and abducted a woman during the attack,” Bakatwrote.
The Katsina State Police Command has not yet officially reacted to the latest incident.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State Command, Sadiq Abubakar, could not immediately confirm the incident
