Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has been grilled by the Lagos State Police Command over a viral video that allegedly showed him holding a gun-like object during a confrontation with a road user.

The incident, which reportedly occurred while the pastor was in an unregistered vehicle, sparked widespread reactions online, with many accusing him of brandishing a firearm.

Confirming the development on Tuesday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said Adefarasin was being interrogated by detectives at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

“No one is above the law. Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives. The outcome of the investigation will be made public,” Hundeyin stated via WhatsApp.

The video, which surfaced last week, showed the cleric holding a metallic object while engaging in a heated argument with an unidentified individual who appeared to be filming him.

In a message to his congregation shared on his official social media pages last Saturday, Adefarasin denied carrying a firearm and dismissed the claims as a misunderstanding.

“The claims circulating online are a misunderstanding of the event. The object was not a gun, and at no point was it pointed at anyone. I hold the safety of every Nigerian in the highest regard,” he said.
