Shimite Bello, Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, has died under controversial circumstances, with family members alleging she was poisoned by her husband.

Bello, popularly known as Madam Sabificate, reportedly passed away on Easter Sunday after she was found foaming at the mouth. She was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, Asaba, but was declared dead on arrival.

Her husband, Pastor David Favour Love, has been arrested by the police following accusations from the family that he poisoned her.

A family member told SaharaReporters, “I spoke with her for over an hour on Saturday. She was vibrant and talked about a meeting she attended. On Sunday, I sent her Easter messages, but she didn’t reply—which was unusual.”

Concern grew when Shimite’s maid contacted her elder brother, saying the husband had locked her in all day.

The brother reportedly rushed over, found her in distress, and took her to the hospital.

“She was foaming at the mouth. The police were called and they arrested the husband,” the source added.

Relatives claim Pastor David isolated her from loved ones and restricted her movements.

“Since he came into her life, he cut everyone off. He didn’t allow her brother to visit. He even changed the name on her properties to his. We believe she was manipulated—possibly hypnotised,” another family member said.

They described the pastor as controlling and envious of Shimite’s success and beauty.

“The man had nothing before meeting her. He came to drain her. It’s heartbreaking,” the source said.

Before her death, Shimite had contested the Oshimili North seat in the Delta Assembly primaries under the PDP in 2023.

She also served as Executive Secretary of the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency under former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and was the CEO of the Quintessential Group.

Attempts to reach Delta Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, were unsuccessful as his line was unreachable.

Her remains have been deposited in the mortuary as investigations continue.
