The Yoruba Self-Determination Movement is deeply saddened by the passing of Mrs. Julia Olubusola Akintoye, the devoted wife of Professor Banji Akintoye, the National Leader of the Yoruba Self-Determination Movement.
Mama Julia, aged 88, peacefully transitioned in the early hours of Wednesday, December 25, 2024. She was a steadfast supporter of her husband’s mission for Yoruba liberation, standing by his side through the challenges of their struggle.
Her unwavering dedication was evident when she accompanied him to Benin Republic during their period of exile, enduring sacrifices in pursuit of the Yoruba cause.
Extending his heartfelt condolences, Yoruba freedom fighter Dr. Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho, through his spokesperson Olayomi Koiki, described Mama Julia as a beacon of strength and a source of inspiration for the Yoruba Nation movement. He praised her commitment and sacrifices, which played a significant role in advancing the cause for self-determination.
The Yoruba Nation mourns her loss deeply and celebrates a life well-lived in service to her people and her family. Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
May her soul rest in perfect peace.
