KADUNA, Nigeria – Gunmen have abducted the children of a politician in northwest Nigeria.
The armed kidnappers whisked the two children of Alhaji Aliyu Idris Ibrahim, a chieftain of political party All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State – while on their way back from Islamiyya around 5pm on Wednesday at Kwarbai in Zaria town. The whereabouts of the abductees have been unknown since the incident occurred.
Ibrahim is the immediate past chairman of Zaria Local Government.
Tahir Abubakar M, a family friend of the APC chieftain also confirmed the incident in a post on social media platform X.
“Inalillahi wainailaihim rajiun. Yesterday, after I dropped off their uncle, he called me to say that they had been kidnapped on their way back from Islamiyya. These children are the kids of the immediate past chairman of Zaria local government,” he wrote as caption on photos of a little boy and girl; apparently the abductees.
Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesman ASP Mansir Hassan could not be reached for comment.
