Lagos – A police station boss in Nigeria’s southwestern Lagos State has died in his office, the police command in the country’s commercial hub said late Friday.

Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Bolaji Olugbenga, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ijanikin Police Station reportedly collapsed in his office on Thursday evening and was later pronounced dead.

Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman Superintendent of Police (SP) Benjamin Hundeyin, during in a press briefing on Friday night, refused to provide specific details about the officer or the circumstances surrounding his death.

Reports indicate that the DPO collapsed in his office and passed away before he could be taken to a hospital on Thursday night.

The announcement of his death reportedly left the officers at the station in mourning.

However, a source from the division confirmed to investigative news outlet Sahara Reporters that the officer’s body had been transferred to a mortuary.
