Lagos – A man has died after jumping into a river in Nigeria’s Lagos State, police said on Sunday, in a suspected drug abuse incident.
The 45-year-old man, identified simply as Kazeem reportedly committed the suicide after taking hard drug, Colorado, he jumped into the river at Alagbado area of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin said in a statement that on October 11, at about 11 am, a complaint was received at Alagbado division.
Hundeyin said that the deceased under the influence of a hard drug, ran uncomfortably and jumped into a river at Odo tente boundary between Lagos and Ogun State.
He added that Kazeem drowned in the river.
The police spokesman, however, said the scene was immediately visited by detectives of the division and photographs of the deceased were taken, while his father was contacted through his phone, he directed that the deceased corpse should be buried immediately by the river side according to tradition.
