The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has expressed strong confidence that the party will face no serious opposition in the state during the 2027 governorship election.

Adeola made the statement during an APC Interfaith Prayer and Praise Concert held at the Ake Palace Ground in Abeokuta, the state capital, as the party begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The senator attributed his confidence to what he described as internal challenges confronting opposition parties in Ogun State.

According to him, some opposition groups are still struggling to resolve their political differences and organisational issues ahead of the elections.

Adeola said he believed the APC would record victories across the state, beginning with the presidential election and extending to the governorship and National Assembly contests.

He also expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for another term, saying APC candidates in Ogun State would equally perform strongly in the 2027 elections.

The APC candidate urged party members to remain united, committed and actively involved in the party’s activities as preparations for the elections intensify.

He said the prayers offered during the gathering would strengthen the party and contribute to its success at the polls.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who also attended the event, said the prayer gathering provided an opportunity for APC members to seek God’s guidance as they prepare for the 2027 political transition.

Abiodun recalled the difficult political circumstances surrounding the 2019 governorship election, describing his emergence as governor as a testimony of divine intervention.

He expressed optimism that the state would experience another peaceful transition at the end of his tenure.

He urged party members to continue to place God at the centre of their political activities and preparations for the forthcoming elections.

Earlier, the Regional Evangelist of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Johnson Kalejaiye, appealed to political parties and their supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully.

Kalejaiye warned against hate speech, inflammatory statements and campaigns of calumny that could heighten tension or trigger violence during the electoral process.

He also prayed for peace in Ogun State and for a successful 2027 election.

The interfaith gathering brought together Christian and Muslim clerics, APC leaders and supporters, who offered prayers for the party, its candidates and the state.

Those who attended included former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba; Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhta Maiha; Ogun APC Chairman, Chief Yemisi Sanusi; and Senator Lekan Mustapha, Director-General of the APC Campaign Council in Ogun State.
