At least 15 people have been confirmed dead following renewed attacks by gunmen in Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

The coordinated assaults occurred on Thursday night in Manja community of Chakfem Kingdom, Mangu LGA, and Tangur community in Bokkos LGA.

According to reports, the attackers stormed both communities at different times.

Residents said the gunmen invaded Tangur around 9pm, when most people were retiring to bed, while the Chakfem assault happened earlier in the evening.

Witnesses said the attackers operated for some time, shooting indiscriminately and breaking into homes before escaping into the night.

Sources in both communities told Daily Trust that seven people were killed in Mangu, while eight others died in Bokkos.

Shohotden Mathias Ibrahim, Director of Culture at Mwaghavul Development Association and head of the IDP (Pilot Science) Camp in Mangu, confirmed the casualties in Mangu and noted that tension remains high in the area.
