The Alaperu of Iperu Remo in Nigeria’s Ogun State, Oba Idowu Basipo has joined his ancestors. He was 67.
The traditional ruler was reportedly rushed to Babcock hospital and later died on Thursday afternoon.
His demise comes one year after that of his beloved wife, Olori Kehinde Idowu Basibo-Odoru, further deepening the grief in the community.
Oba Basibo, a revered figure in the town, was reportedly preparing to celebrate his 68th birthday on March 13, 2025, before joining his anscestors, leaving the people of Iperu Remo in shock and sorrow, especially as it marks another significant loss for the royal family, which is still grieving the death of the queen a year earlier.

Sources close to the palace have confirmed the death, but it has not yet been officially announced by local authorities.
