A retired army has been abducted by armed men in Nigeria’s northwestern state of Katsina, a local news outlet reports, citing locals.

Major-General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd) was reportedly kidnapped in Tsiga village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Tsiga, a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was said to have been abducted alongside nine other residents around midnight on Wednesday, local sources told Daily Trust newpaper.

There are reports that two people were killed during the incident but the news outlet could not independently verify this.

Katsina State Police Command’s spokesman DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu could not be reached for comment.
