At least two vehicles were destroyed by the fire that broke out on Monday, 23 Dec. 2024

A newly built petroleum station in Nigeria’s southwestern city of Ibadan was razed by fire on Monday evening.

BOVAS petroleum station located at Olukunle, Olodo Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State was gutted by fire that left at least 2 vehicles burnt.

Firefighters from the Oyo State Fire Service were alerted about the incident, with the agency’s General Manager Yemi Akinyinka confirming the development, without giving details.

Our correspondent who visited the scene witnessed the burnt vehicles being cleared from the affected fuel station.

A strong source at the affected Bovas petroleum outlet told our correspondent that the incident occured while the underground petrol storage tank was being dried up before the unloading of petrol.

The source who pleaded anonymity said they could not manage the fire successfully until men of the Oyo State Fire Service were deployed.

The petrol station management could not be reached for comments.
