IBADAN – Yoruba Nation advocate, Dr. Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho, has paid a deeply emotional tribute to the late Sheikh Alhaji Muyideen Ajani Bello, a distinguished Islamic scholar, preacher, and father figure who passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024.

Through his spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, Dr. Igboho expressed profound sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late cleric, recognizing his significant role in supporting the Yoruba struggle and his unwavering dedication to justice and unity.

Dr. Igboho described Sheikh Bello as a beacon of wisdom, courage, and humility whose fatherly guidance and moral support were instrumental during challenging times.

“Baba was not just a religious leader; he was a source of strength to me personally and to the entire Yoruba Nation movement. His advice, prayers, and encouragement during my trials in Benin Republic and back in Nigeria showed the depth of his love for our people and his commitment to righteousness and peace,” Dr. Igboho remarked.

Reflecting on Sheikh Bello’s legacy, Dr. Igboho noted that he was more than a scholar—he was a bridge-builder who used his platform to foster understanding and promote the welfare of the Yoruba people. His teachings, grounded in Islamic principles and cultural values, inspired countless individuals to pursue a life of integrity, compassion, and service to humanity.

Born in 1940 into the family of Alhaji Bello Ajani and Alhaja Ubaidat Bello of Arolu Compound, Ita Olukoyi, Ibadan, Sheikh Muyideen Bello was a spiritual giant whose sermons resonated far and wide. His commitment to truth and advocacy for peace earned him respect across religious and cultural divides.

Dr. Igboho emphasized that the loss of Sheikh Bello is not just a personal loss but a significant blow to the Yoruba Nation and Nigeria as a whole.

“We have lost a rare gem, a father, and a mentor. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him and in the countless lives he touched through his ministry,” he said.

As the Yoruba Nation mourns, Dr. Igboho reiterated his commitment to upholding the values that the late Sheikh Bello stood for, urging the younger generation to emulate his virtues of selflessness, wisdom, and faith.

He concluded with a prayer for the peaceful repose of Sheikh Bello’s soul and for divine comfort for his family during this period of mourning.

Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello’s departure leaves an irreplaceable void, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. His contributions to religion, culture, and the Yoruba struggle will forever be etched in the annals of history.
